Fellow, Chemicals and Manufacturing

Bernie’s 50 plus year career includes work on the United States first satellites in the late 1950’s to Dupont Nylon in the 1960’s to revolutionary work studied by Harvard in 5 case studies at Loctite.  Bernie then founded with son Adam ABM Associates, a chemistry based innovation consulting firm with over a billion in annually sold, developed or enabled products ranging from D’addario’s musical strings to J&J’s Dermabond to recently founded Sirrus.  It’s the Sirrus chemistry that will revolutionize manufacturing and energy consumption globally via it’s infinitely variable, ambient base catalyzed curing.

Bernie’s amazing life has been about enabling innovation via high speed chemistry and it’s still going strong.  With over 50 senior chemical executives leading companies who trained under Bernie, his influence is clear and legacy assured. Still, for those special projects, Bernie still works and Elemence itself is the legacy of ABM Associates founded almost 20 years ago in 1997.

Bernie lives in Hartford, CT in a home he built himself with his wife Sharon.  Bernie has two grown sons, Adam who is a founding Elemence partner and his brother Brett.  Bernie received his BS from Caltech and a PhD from his beloved University of Washington in Seattle.
